Habitat

Mammals live on land and in water. Besides places with little oxygen, such as deep oceans, mammals can be found pretty much anywhere on Earth. This is because most warmed-blooded creatures are able to maintain a constant body temperature, despite the temperature of the environment. In cooler temperatures, they generate more heat from the food they consume. They lose heat through sweating if the temperatures rise above comfort level. Other factors, including the thickness of fur, also changes throughout seasons.

The advantages of being warm-blooded enables mammals to remain active in a wide range of temperatures and live in places most cold-blooded animals could not.
